In Calipso, past and present meet through materials: woven with plastic yarns from recycled bottles, it has an ethnic and artisan style weave thanks to the naturally dyed cotton inserts; the figures applied to the textile surface create a movement with a uniform rhythm and regular cadence where opaque and shiny alternate in a harmonious way.
“For me, creating means first of all ordering, choosing and sorting textiles to find the rhythm that suits the job.”
If it is true that the creative path of a work is always individual and personal, it is also true that, at the end of the process of realization, the work is independent, that is, it communicates beyond the artist. The search for recycled material, the dyeing of pieces of fabric that already have their own history, the need to weave the different narrative souls of things so as not to lose their memory, all contribute to the search for a new beauty capable of returning a new experience to fragments of the past.
